New Start Voluntary Counselling and Testing Centre

On April 11, 2005 the DRC School Project & Community Centre, in partnership with the Social Marketing Association, opened the doors to a New Start Voluntary Counselling and Testing Centre in Swakopmund. In 2007 we began our partnership with Intrahealth International and have been working with this organization since. The programme is funded by USAID.

The New Start centre provides HIV testing and pre and post test counselling to the Swakopmund community.  The centre is situated in Mondesa and employs eight staff members, a Nurse/Counsellor a Counsellor and a Receptionist.  The centre is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00. 

The centre was expanded twice since opeining its doors. 

We hope these changes have improved our service by helping to reach a larger segment of the community.

Over 17,040 clients have been tested at the centre since it opened its doors.
